Czech Republic had never before won against Sweden at Women U19-level – until tonight. Lucie Zelizkova made it 4-3 and secured the win for a super happy team.

The group final between Czech Republic and Sweden in IFU Arena in Uppsala became a intense and powerful match. Sweden began best and made 2-0 in the first period.

But the Czechs turned the game around in the second period. Lucie Rezacova, Eliska Chuda and Michaela Kubeckova made one goal each and suddenly Czech was in the lead.

Home team Sweden had to win the match to win the group, while an even result would be enough for Czech Republic. Therefore Sweden kept on pushing forward in the third period and Maja Viström did what she was made to do when Sweden got a penalty.

Sweden had the most chances, but the Czech goalkeeper Viktorie Karasova was superb and made lots of difficult saves. With less than seven minutes to go in the game Lucie Zelizkova made it 4-3. Sweden tried to score a fourth goal as well, but Karasova was a wall in the goal.

Czech Republic won the group and will play Finland in the first semi-final tomorrow (Saturday) at 1.30 PM. Sweden plays against the other group winner Switzerland at 4.30 PM.

The players of the match was Czech Republic´s Viktorie Karasova and Sweden´s Maja Viström.
